VisualBase 11 is the .NET 8 modernization line. It is a Beta and will not become a separate general-availability release: it is superseded by VisualBase 12. The beta programme ends on 31 December 2026, and beta environments should be migrated to VisualBase 12.
Architecture
- Modular ASP.NET Core and Blazor WebAssembly/server applications on .NET 8.
- Platform services for Security, Single Sign-On, Security Administration, Tenants, Rendering, Workflow, Workflow Designer, Automation, Communication, Knowledge Base, Learning, API Gateway, Navigation, and Studio.
- Business-intelligence services for reports and dashboards, with conversion and interoperability for existing Crystal Reports.
- Integration services for APIs, gateways, PDF, payments, WhatsApp, ZATCA e-invoicing, registration, and custom controls.
- AI services, including retrieval-based assistance and translation capabilities.
Main areas of change
- Security: HttpOnly cookie authentication, stricter validation of Microsoft and Google sign-in tokens, stricter tenant mapping, one-time passwords and maintenance mode, password-reset controls, and permission-caching fixes.
- Multi-tenancy: tenant service, tenant isolation, mapping and de-duplication, per-tenant themes, localization, and tenant-aware caches.
- Workflow: parity with existing workflow rules, Office 365 email delivery, majority/percentage decisions, approvals by email reply, after-events, deterministic status, rejection notifications, and multi-stage approval fixes.
- Rendering/forms: metadata-driven grids and forms, filters, grouping, saved layouts, formulas, drafts, attachments, confirmations, mobile behavior, RTL/Arabic fixes, and embedded modules.
- Audit/operations: audit-event logging, automation run history and monitoring, centralized logging, and deployment tooling.
- Content/AI: Knowledge Base, guided tours, Learning site, translation integration, AI-assisted search, and Studio improvements.
Beta limitations
- There will be no general-availability release of VisualBase 11, and it is not offered for new production use.
- Microsoft support for .NET 8 ends on 10 November 2026.
- APIs, database updates, packaging, and user experience may change.
- Full customer acceptance, upgrade/rollback rehearsal, performance, security, and topology testing must be completed for each deployment.
